Boyett Construction Inc. receives NCDCA Design and Construction Award for “Project of the Year” for Their Work on Walt Disney Family Museum

Hayward California, March 10, 2010 — Boyett Construction, Inc. recently received the Northern California Drywall Contractor Association’s Design and Construction award for “Project of the Year” for their work on the Walt Disney Family Museum located in the San Francisco Presidio. The award recognizes Boyett Construction’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of quality and technical expertise on this historically significant project. Boyett also received the First Place award in the “Best Project Over $1 Million” for the same project.

For 218 years, the San Francisco Presidio served as an army post for three nations. With1480 acres and more than 500 historic buildings, the Presidio became a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in 1994. The Walt Disney Family Museum, a 19,000 square foot, $110 million museum complex has transformed an Army barracks and two neighboring buildings on the Presidio Parade Ground into a visually stunning telling of the story of Disney’s life and work.

Boyett Construction’s contribution to the project was metal framing, drywall, interior and exterior lath and plaster and BASWAphon acoustic plaster. Boyett introduced BASWAphon to the project in the early submittal stage as the NRC component of a very sophisticated acoustical design. The NRC was particularly critical because of the extensive use of concrete, steel, glass and other acoustically reflective finishes and installations.”
